Advances in cyclodextrin-based materials: Anticancer and antimicrobial applications–A review (2021–2024)

Posted by

This review explores the latest innovations in CD-based drug delivery, emphasizing their impact on both cancer treatment and antimicrobial strategies. With increasing research efforts dedicated to developing CD-based formulations, their role in healthcare continues to expand, offering new opportunities for improved drug design and patient outcomes.

In addition to HPBCD and SBEBCD, nanoparticles, CD-based polymers and liposomes are discussed through several examples concerning chemotherapy of cancer and antimicrobial therapies. Nanosheets, hydrogels, functionalized nanoparticles and other innovative dosage forms were studied for targeted and controlled release formulations.
