Over 70,000 hits in Scopus for “cyclodextrin” keyword

Although discovered over 130 years ago, cyclodextrin research continues to flourish, as evidenced by data from Elsevier’s Scopus database. The number of hits on “cyclodextrin” keyword in title, abstract and keywords exceeded 70,000.

Annual publication numbers maintain an upward trend, driven by active contributions from leading researchers exploring this versatile family of compounds. The top contributors are Prof. Y. Liu (whose >400 papers likely aggregate work from multiple researchers with the same name), followed by Profs. Uekama, Harada, and Loftsson.

The Journal of Inclusion Phenomena and Macrocyclic Chemistry (including its predecessor, Journal of Inclusion Phenomena) leads in total publication volume, followed by the Journal of Chromatography, the International Journal of Pharmaceutics, and Carbohydrate Polymers. The vast majority of articles (>95%) are published in English, with approximately 3% in Chinese.
