δ‑Cyclodextrin (δ‑CD or delta-CD) is a unique, novel nine-membered cyclodextrin with a larger internal cavity than α-, β-, or γ-cyclodextrins, allowing it to accommodate larger and more structurally complex guest molecules that are difficult to host with conventional cyclodextrins. Developed at DTU by Beeren’s group, δ‑CD opens new possibilities for next-generation drug delivery, supramolecular chemistry, and molecular recognition applications, offering opportunities that smaller cyclodextrins cannot achieve due to their more limited cavity sizes.
