The article describes the construction of a photo-controlled reversible multicolor luminescent supramolecular assembly on an agarose substrate by non-covalent interactions. The key components are:
- Multicharged β-cyclodextrin (AMCD) and negatively charged tetraphenylethene (TPE) form a binary assembly AMCD@TPE through electrostatic interactions, enhancing TPE’s luminescence.
- Adamantane-modified spiropyrane derivative (Adam-SP) is introduced to form a ternary assembly Adam-MC@AMCD@TPE through host-guest interactions.
- The ternary assembly exhibits reversible photo-regulated multicolor luminescence from blue to red under alternating visible light and dark conditions, as well as thermal-responsive luminescence changes.
- The ternary assembly is applied for photo-controlled multiple anti-counterfeiting.
This work provided a novel approach for constructing intelligent luminescent supramolecular assembly through cascade assembly.
